SFGate: Vail’s Epic Pass Sales Slide After a Difficult Snow Year

Oct 1
1 min read

SFGate reported October 1 that Vail Resorts is facing a sharp decline in Epic Pass unit sales heading into the 2026-27 winter after a difficult prior season, particularly in the West.

The report says pass units were down 12% from the comparable period and highlights the lingering effects of poor snow, lower visits and weaker financial results. It also notes that Vail still has a large recurring pass business and that company leadership has argued some less-committed skiers may simply be delaying purchases.

For skiers, the important question is what happens next: whether lower advance pass participation translates into lighter crowds, more dependence on day-ticket revenue, or further pricing and marketing changes as the season approaches.
