Vail Mountain News: Whistler Blackcomb and Stevens Pass 2026/27 Opening Dates
Vail Resorts has set target opening dates for its Pacific Northwest and British Columbia mountains, with Whistler Blackcomb aiming for November 20 and Stevens Pass targeting December 4 for the 2026/27 winter season. Both dates remain weather- and conditions-dependent.
Whistler Blackcomb: November 20 target
Whistler Blackcomb says November 20 is its target opening date. The resort is also promoting new guest-experience changes for 2026/27, including My Epic Assistant in the app, updated dining and other mountain-service enhancements.
Stevens Pass: December 4 target and a 90th season
Stevens Pass is targeting December 4 for winter opening. The Washington resort is also heading into its 90th anniversary season after a summer that included bike-park operations, a new trail feature and the return of the Northwest Cup Finals.
Stevens Pass reported that wildfire smoke made August difficult, while September brought cooler temperatures and clearer air. The resort closed its bike park for the season on September 27 as preparations shifted toward winter.
Why these mountain-level updates belong separately from corporate news
Opening dates, lift schedules, local events and operational changes are resort-specific. Keeping Whistler and Stevens Pass updates separate from Vail Resorts corporate earnings or pass-sales news makes it easier to see what is actually changing at each mountain.
