Vail Pushes $471 Four-Day Epic Pass Ahead of October 7 Deadline

Vail Resorts is pushing fall buyers toward the Epic Day Pass with an October 7 deadline for one of its current offers.

The company says skiers can buy four days of access at Vail Mountain, Whistler Blackcomb, Park City Mountain and other participating resorts for $471, or about $118 per day.

Vail markets that as savings of up to 65% compared with window lift-ticket prices.

The comparison is revealing. A product priced at $118 per day can be advertised as a deep discount only because walk-up ticket prices at major destination resorts have become so high.

For occasional skiers, the Epic Day Pass can still be cheaper than buying day tickets at the window. But it also reinforces Vail’s strategy of pushing customers to commit money early, before snow conditions and trip plans are known.

That early-commitment model benefits the company by locking in revenue before the season. Skiers take on more of the weather and scheduling risk.
