Vail Resorts Ex-CEO gets 2.2 Million
Updated: Oct 6
PlanetSKI reported on June 3, 2025 that former Vail Resorts CEO Kirsten Lynch was set to receive a $2,249,108 lump-sum payment after stepping down from the chief executive role. The report, citing company filings, said the payment was equivalent to two years of her annual base salary.
The same report said Lynch's unvested Vail Resorts stock would vest at the time of her termination. Her departure was described as a termination without cause, and she remained in a strategic-advisor role during the leadership transition.
Rob Katz returned as Vail Resorts CEO after previously leading the company from 2006 to 2021. The transition came during a period of investor pressure, operational scrutiny, labor disputes, and a substantial decline in Vail Resorts' share price from its 2021 peak.
The compensation disclosure is relevant to shareholders and customers following the company's leadership changes, but the payment itself does not establish wrongdoing. It reflects the disclosed terms surrounding Lynch's departure from the CEO position.
