Vail Resorts Expects Lower Visitation Than Its Old Plan Even If Weather Improves
Vail Resorts is forecasting a recovery in fiscal 2027, but one detail in its own outlook deserves attention: the company still assumes visitation will be modestly lower than the level it originally expected for fiscal 2026.
In its September 28 earnings release, Vail said fiscal 2027 guidance assumes a range of normal weather conditions and a meaningful recovery from the weather-hit 2025-26 season.
At the same time, the company says the outlook assumes lower pass-demand trends and modestly lower visitation relative to its original expectations from a year earlier.
Vail expects to offset some of that weakness through lift-ticket pricing, product optimization, increased guest spending and additional cost efficiencies.
That is important for skiers because it shows the company is not simply betting on more people coming back. It is also relying on pricing and spending per guest to support the business.
For customers already concerned about affordability, that strategy is worth watching closely.
