Vail Mountain News by Region: Park City, Okemo, Crested Butte and Keystone
This is the start of our mountain-by-mountain Vail Resorts news roundup. The goal is to separate local resort developments from Vail corporate news and include negative, neutral and positive developments when they are newsworthy.
Utah — Park City Mountain
Vail Resorts announced September 28 that it plans to replace the Eagle and Silverlode lifts at Park City Mountain for the 2027/28 winter season. The company says the projects are part of continued investment in the resort.
Separately, labor issues remain active. The National Labor Relations Board lists an open case filed in November 2025 involving Vail Resorts and the Park City Professional Ski Patrol Association, with allegations including refusal to furnish information and discharge-related claims. Those are allegations in an open labor case, not final findings.
TownLift also reported in May 2026 that Park City patrol, together with Crested Butte and Keystone patrol unions, filed for arbitration over a paid Recovery Time Off benefit they say Vail extended to non-union patrols but not to their bargaining units.
Vermont — Okemo
Okemo announced a multi-million-dollar snowmaking upgrade in late August. Vail says the work modernizes major snowmaking systems and is intended to improve snowmaking performance while reducing energy use. This is a straightforward infrastructure investment and belongs in the news section even though it is not negative.
Colorado — Crested Butte and Keystone
Crested Butte and Keystone are part of the same patrol grievance reported by TownLift. Their patrol associations joined Park City in arguing that unionized patrol employees were denied a paid benefit provided at non-union Vail resorts. The dispute was headed to arbitration when reported.
Why we are organizing news this way
A corporate press release about Vail Resorts is not the same thing as a local issue at Park City, Stowe, Okemo, Whistler, Stevens Pass or another mountain. Keeping mountain news organized by region makes it easier to see what is actually changing at an individual resort instead of mixing everything into one corporate feed.
